Number One Son

Sorry for the long delay in posting, but I've been busy helping Dad with his book launch! 🙇

The title of today's post is just one of the many nicknames he gave me in recent weeks. Sorry. He told me the meaning but said you have to read his book to figure it out on your own. 🤔💭⁉️

Secret weapon is another nickname, one he often uses when he takes my photo or shoot video of me. The world is a mystery, he says. People can only take so many messages from him about his book, or about the importance of writing a review before tuning him out. But show them a photo of me or one of Mom's delicious dishes and, well, they demand more. 👏 Facebook and Instagram are even writing back to him saying I'm extremely popular and recommending he make another post! 👍

Dad's right, you know. The world is a mystery. What's so interesting about me munching on a stick of dried fish or bell peppers? I do that every day. You'd think people would be more interested in photos of me at various spots I visit, like the ones I posted here today.

We've had a change of seasons, so I posted photos taken since early fall. The first two were taken during Korea's biggest holiday, the Harvest Moon or Chuseok holiday. Kids travel back to their hometowns to visit parents, and everyone overeats! Knowing from experience how much I enjoy the freedom of being able to move my legs, this year Mom made me a mini hanbok, Korea's traditional dress for men and women, instead of a full body-length garment. Everyone seemed pleased when I wore it, and you can tell their pleasure was rubbing off on me. 😊

In late October, we made a trip to Tongyeong to see Little Samchun, Auntie and Ddori. That's me you see standing next to the ground painting of the famous "Turtle Ships" created by the Korean Navy over four hundred years ago. Outfitted with iron-plated roofs, the geobukseon sailed the seas around Tongyeong and Geoje-do in battles with the Japanese Navy during what was called the Imjin War. During the trip, Mom and Dad celebrated their 19th wedding anniversary, then we all celebrated with a steak dinner at home. 🥩

In November, we did a "shoot" at the local well-being resort. 📷 Dad's editor asked him to make a "guest post" on her website and Dad needed to send her a photo. So we posed and posed over coffee and chicken breast, with Mom doing most of the shooting.

Like the flip of a switch, the weather got much colder as November passed us by. ☃️Mom bought me a new winter suit, and that's me testing it out on our front lawn. Like my mini-hanbok, my suit fits great and I have the freedom to walk at a fast pace or even run in it. Thanks, Mom! 💖

This year, Mom decided to decorate only the inside of our house, and that's me enjoying the seasonal ambiance one night in our living room, wrapped in my favorite blanket. In the next photo, I'm out on a walk in the orchards, taking a break in my stroller and protected from the wind by a new cover Mom bought me. Mom loves me so much her hood took on a heart shape! 😚

Mom's niece, who's a wizard at so many things, sent me a new bed. It's like a huge cotton ball and I love to rest in it! Thanks, Noona! 💓

It's hard to believe that 2023 is almost over. What a great year its been. In 29 posts, I told you about my wonderful life since Day One in Dublin, and all the places I visited since then. I hope you've enjoyed reading my tales as much as I've enjoyed telling them.

Dad, Mom and I wish you a world of happiness and good health in 2024!

Warm Regards from your friend in Korea,

Tango 🐾
